The Mindful Resource Center (MRC) is here to help clients achieve wellness

and actualize their potential... with lasting results.

MRC is an association of independent practioners. Using a private practice model, MRC provides training and support for it's Clinicians and guides them in building, representing and managing their own specialty practices based in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Depending on their phase of career, MRC Clinicians are also trained, guided and supported in developing and providing education about their strengths in the form of supervision, classes, groups, videos and blog posts.

 

Dr. Julie Hartman provides all initial phone intakes to help determine the client's initial wellness plan and options. Included in that plan will be recommendations for providers, likely within MRC but also when appopriate, with our collagues in the community.

Welcome! So glad you're committed to your well-being! Dr. Hartman always says "Everyone benefits from therapy, some people need it". So, let's get you the benefits... and see what you need.

 

Psychotherapists require specialized training and experience. For instance, ages 16, 26 and 46 years old will vary significantly in development phase, communication and execution abilities. Therapy tends to take between 12 - 50 sessions, sometimes more, sometimes less.

 

MRC Clinicians use a combination of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, Psychoeducation, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and Relationship techniques to help you achieve the wellness you are seeking. These techniques have been shown in lots of research and clinical history to really work. And, everything is tailored for your age and stage of development... your particular needs as well as in line with your culture and values.

Congrats on exploring the role of coaching in your well-being! Dr. Hartman wishes that in an ideal world, EVERYONE would have a 'wellness coach'. She has one... it's awesome for growing and manifesting your dreams!

 

Coaching is different than therapy. Coaching is often focused on solutions, dreams, life goals and performance enhancement. Therapy is often focused on healing, treatment and restoring functioning. Some clients don't need therapy but coaching is a great resource for their wellness pursuits. Others will improve significantly via therapy, then transition to a coaching model. Our MRC Clinicians are trained psychotherapists but are also trained to provide coaching under the appropriate circumstances. Coaching duration varies, sometimes just 1 session here and there, sometimes weekly for a few months, sometimes 10-session packages spread out as needed... lots of options.

It's awesome you're exporing the role or classes or groups on your wellness path! Dr. Hartman often says "formal education helps us grow-up to make a living, self-education helps uss have a great life." Classes and groups are both an affordable option and a positive way to pursue goals. A 'student-mindset' in classes and groups helps your brain orient toward learning... and new learning, especially combined with the types of exercises and practice that we provide using CBT, really helps develop more WELLNESS SKILLS.

 

Our MRC Clinicians provide classes and groups that are fun, interactive and tailored to developmental age and stage. Most groups are based on Dr. Hartman's AMDCBT model and curriculum, whereby young adults learn and practice a new skill every week. Examples of CBT-based skills are 'How Our Brains Work', 'Mindfulness', and 'How to Make Worry Appointments'. For a full list of our current skills group offerings, click here.

Bravo for making it this far on your quest for what's right for your well-being! Dr. Hartman frequently suggests consultation when you are not sure whether to do therapy, coaching, or another process in order to help your teen with a specific problem. A consultant will help identify the key information and aid you in making a decision about next steps - called an ACTION PLAN. If you're a concerned parent of a young adult, consultation is a  great place for you to start.

 

Our MRC Clinicians provide consultation on the topics of wellness skills, life transitions and ways to support yourself (or your child, partner, friend) on ways to thrive. Consultation may involve one session, several sessions, and/or follow-up sessions in order to fine-tune the action plan. Just like you might consult your Physician about your migraines or recent vision changes, our MRC Clinicians are also Consultants who can help you determine a series of action steps to take to get to the bottom of things and do what's needed to support your wellness.
