Adolescent Services

When there is a persisent question or concern about an adolescent's happiness or behavior that needs further understanding, therapy should be considered.

In many cases, an adolescent is referred to me for my particular techniques, style, or emphasis areas:

  • individual therapy with adolescents (ages 13 - 19 years)
  • free-form and structured play/art/sand therapy
  • specialty with girls (although I also help boys)
  • cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques
  • specialty with parent-child therapy

Common issues I help are anxiety, phobias, OCD, depression, divorce, family stress, obedience/defiance, ADD, and adjustment.

Several times a year, I conduct group therapy with a focus on interpersonal skills, body image, self-esteem, and additional developmental areas.

Sometimes, parent-teen psychotherapy or parent consultation is a useful treatment for improving an adolescent's problems and facilitating healthy development.
Common themes are family harmony, good habits, rewards/consequences, motivation, and rules.
